Did you know that for the first 7 years of the Queen's reign her official birthday was celebrated on the second Thursday in June but was switched to Saturdays when midweek celebrations became inconvenient. On her birthday she receives a 41 gun royal salute. It's very noisy.
The Queen's Crown Jewels have been kept at The Tower of London since 1303 after they were stolen from Westminster Abbey.
Did you watch the trooping of the colours on the television? I loved all the marching and the smart uniforms though I think those bearskin caps look very tickly and I don't know how the guardsmen can see where they are going when they are wearing them. The 41 gun salute was very noisy!
